Preparation for a move

Stacks layered on stacks
these boxes won’t fill themselves
coffee first, then that.

Transient Life

high pitched morning squeal
three squeaking twists of the upstairs faucet
sloshing water and the distant  buzz of our unknown neighbor’s alarm

reminding myself of the temporariness of it all
does not ease the restlessness nor the pounding down the stairs nor
the stomps around the room when we are speak in normal tones

each of us are on the losing end of whatever battle is being fought

Restless

subtly close to as it stands now
drifting silently

someone must be available to keep the peace,
offer up
a tidbit of longing,
provide some sort of release

scorched from all this senseless bickering
feeling less and less thankful by the day.

Once upon a time there was a singing G

Josephine resting
finally
at peace in our home.
Her sloping reddish brown back facing out,
scrolling neck leaning delicately against the corner.

I think about how I will play her –
my fingers becoming easily sore
nails needing to be clipped back
we’ve both been for a long time been in hibernation.

one year following the birth of our marriage

one year following the birth of our marriage

I’ll have the cracked egg as an omlette –
the blustery winds as the sugar in my tea.
It’s not some sort of magic that last year’s Saturday
is this year’s Monday.

Just think of it as an extra day with me.

Terrors

my exhaustion is seeking solace
hot brown swirling a.m. elixir
too often catapulted from unconsciousness

Orange and oblong

The relationship nuances:
failing to completely consume reason
the ridiculousness of your temperament

excessive and beyond the border of common decency
edible encounters – all of them deep fried glory
when the relations spoke, I listened and stored those tidbits:
He’s different from the other ones
to translate: This most likely will not be working out.

A surprising shock to the senses when
– after all that time –
I did exactly what I said I’d do.

Warm-up / snippet

good morning sweet swirling temptress of desire
half here and half remaining in the dream worlds

a  drippy day on the verge of ice
we could march joyfully forward or
contemplate the intrinsic desire in community
